How Many Weeks Are Left in the Year?
The number above shows exactly how many weeks remain until the end of December 31, counted from today. It updates automatically every day, so you can bookmark this page and check it any time. Below it you will see the same figure as whole weeks plus leftover days, the number of weekdays (Monday to Friday) still to go, and the current ISO week number.
How Weeks Left Is Calculated
Count the days remaining after today up to and including December 31, then divide by 7. For example, if 69 days are left, that is 69 ÷ 7 = 9.9 weeks, or 9 full weeks and 6 days. Today itself is not counted, which matches how our days left in the year calculator works, so the two pages always agree.
Weeks Left at the Start of Each Month
| Date | Days left | Weeks left |
|---|---|---|
| January 1 | 364 | 52 weeks |
| February 1 | 333 | 47 weeks, 4 days |
| March 1 | 305 | 43 weeks, 4 days |
| April 1 | 274 | 39 weeks, 1 day |
| May 1 | 244 | 34 weeks, 6 days |
| June 1 | 213 | 30 weeks, 3 days |
| July 1 | 183 | 26 weeks, 1 day |
| August 1 | 152 | 21 weeks, 5 days |
| September 1 | 121 | 17 weeks, 2 days |
| October 1 | 91 | 13 weeks |
| November 1 | 60 | 8 weeks, 4 days |
| December 1 | 30 | 4 weeks, 2 days |
Figures are for a common year. In a leap year, add one day to every date from January 1 through February 1.
Why Does a Year Have 52 Weeks?
A common year has 365 days, which is 52 weeks and 1 day. A leap year has 366 days, which is 52 weeks and 2 days. Those extra one or two days are why some years have 53 ISO weeks and why your birthday moves forward a weekday each year. Use the week of the year calculator to look up the week number for any date.
Planning With Weeks Instead of Days
Weeks are often a more useful planning unit than days. Teams plan sprints in one or two week blocks, students count down weeks until exams or holidays, and anyone working toward a yearly goal can split what is left into weekly targets. If 10 weeks remain and you want to finish a 20-chapter book before New Year, that is two chapters a week. The weekdays-left figure is handy for work deadlines, since it ignores weekends.
