How to use the cube timer
- Scramble your cube using the notation shown above (and the colour preview to check you did it right).
- Hold the Space bar (or press and hold anywhere on the timer on mobile). When it turns green, you're ready.
- Release to start timing, then press again the moment you finish to stop.
- A fresh scramble is generated automatically, and your time is saved to the session with running ao5 / ao12 averages.
Reading the scramble notation
Each letter is a face: U (up), D (down), L (left), R (right), F (front), B (back). A plain letter is a 90° clockwise turn of that face, a prime (') is counter-clockwise, and a 2 is a 180° turn. On the 4x4, a w (e.g. Rw) turns the two outer layers together.
Averages, the WCA way
- ao5 — average of your last 5 solves, dropping the best and worst, then averaging the middle three.
- ao12 — same idea over your last 12 solves (drop best and worst, average the middle ten).
- +2 adds two seconds (for a small mistake), and DNF means "did not finish". Two or more DNFs in a set make the whole average a DNF.
Inspection follows the WCA rule: you get 15 seconds, with a +2 penalty over 15s and a DNF over 17s. Everything stays in your browser — no account, nothing uploaded.
