How to find the difference between two dates
Pick a start date and an end date above. The calculator instantly shows the gap between them in years, months, and days, along with the total number of weeks, days, hours, and minutes. It works for any dates — past or future — and accounts for leap years and the differing lengths of each month.
What "Weekdays" means
The Weekdays figure counts only Monday to Friday between your two dates, skipping every Saturday and Sunday. It's handy for working out delivery windows, project durations, notice periods, or anything measured in business days.
How the breakdown is calculated
- Years, months, days: the calendar difference, the way you'd say it out loud — e.g. "2 years, 3 months, 5 days".
- Total months: the number of whole calendar months in the span.
- Total weeks: the total days divided by seven.
- Total days: the exact number of days from the start date to the end date.
- Total hours / minutes: the total days converted into hours and minutes.
Common uses
- How many days until a deadline, holiday, or due date
- How long ago something happened
- The length of a trip, project, contract, or pregnancy
- Business days between two dates for work scheduling
