How the cooking timer works
Pick a food from the presets to load a typical cooking time, or type your own in the box (for example 8 for eight minutes, or 1:30 for a minute and a half). Press Start and the timer counts down, then rings an alarm and shows a notification when your food is ready — even if you've switched to another tab.
Safe internal temperatures
Cooking times are guidelines; doneness is best confirmed with a meat thermometer. Here are the safe minimum internal temperatures:
| Food | Temperature |
|---|---|
| Poultry (turkey, chicken) | 165°F / 74°C |
| Ground meat (burgers, sausages) | 160°F / 71°C |
| Beef, lamb, pork — steaks & roasts | 145°F / 63°C, then rest 3 min |
| Fish & shellfish | 145°F / 63°C |
| Reheated leftovers | 165°F / 74°C |
Roasting times by weight
The roast calculator uses these common rules of thumb (at a moderate oven of about 325–375°F / 160–190°C):
- Turkey: about 13 minutes per lb unstuffed, 15 minutes per lb stuffed.
- Whole chicken: about 20 minutes per lb, plus 15 minutes.
- Beef & lamb: roughly 15 (rare), 20 (medium) or 25 (well done) minutes per lb.
- Pork: about 30 minutes per lb.
- Gammon / ham: about 18 minutes per lb.
