What Is a Traffic Light Timer?
A traffic light timer runs three timed phases back to back - green, then yellow, then red - and lights up the matching lamp as each phase counts down. Set your own length for every colour, press start, and watch the light change on its own. It turns "how much time is left?" into a signal anyone can read across the room without doing any maths.
How to Use It
- Set each colour - Type a duration for green, yellow, and red using minutes and seconds (for example
5:00,2:00,0:30). - Press Start - Green lights up first and begins counting down.
- Watch it change - When green runs out, yellow takes over; when yellow runs out, red takes over.
- Loop if you want - Tick Loop to jump straight back to green after red, for repeating rounds.
- Reset - Press Reset any time to return to green and your set durations.
When to Use a Traffic Light Timer
- Presentations and talks - Green while you speak, yellow to start wrapping up, red for "please stop" - the classic Toastmasters-style timing light.
- Classrooms - Green for independent work, yellow for finishing up, red for eyes to the front.
