What Time Was It 8 Hours Ago?
Take the current time and count back 8 hours. If that takes you past midnight, the answer falls on the previous day. For example, 8 hours before 3:00 PM is 7:00 AM the same morning, and 8 hours before 2:00 AM is 6:00 PM the evening before. The calculator above works this out for you, and its default is 8 hours ago.
How to Subtract Hours From the Current Time
Subtract the hours from the current hour and keep the minutes the same. On a 12-hour clock, every time you pass 12 the period flips between AM and PM, and every time you pass midnight the date moves back a day. The calculator uses your device's clock and time zone, and it accounts for daylight saving time changes automatically.
Quick Shortcuts
- 12 hours ago is the same clock time with AM and PM swapped.
- 24 hours ago is the same time yesterday.
- 48 hours ago is the same time two days ago, and 72 hours ago is the same time three days ago.
- 36 hours ago is 12 hours before this time yesterday, so the opposite AM/PM a day and a half back.
- 30 minutes ago is half an hour back, and 90 minutes ago is an hour and a half back.
